She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen debuted in 2011. The play tells the story of Agnes Evans’ family after a great personal tragedy and the route she takes to healing and acceptance through the lens of popular sci-fi, role-playing game, Dungeons and Dragons. Using characters both in the game and in reality, Nguyen explores the labels and roles we are handed and ones we give ourselves. Challenging relationships with both drama and comedy, this show deals with topics of death, homosexuality, popularity and bullying and self- esteem, proving that it’s never too late in life to come of age.
